Sore, burning pain

Recommended Posts

I'm just about 4 weeks post op and I'm still feeling sore and some slight burning pain behind my large incision. Is anyone else still sore this far out? Maybe I'm just being paranoid

@@100lbs2g0 Never hesitate to call your surgeon to be sure it's not serious. It is most likely normal healing pains and nerve pain as that's where they usually remove your stomach - but don't take anyone's word for it other than a medical professional. Hope you feel better soon!

I was sleeved aug. 29th 2016 and just until about 3 days ago my large incision was still sore and is still tender but no burning.

I am still preop, BUT, 18 months later my cesarean section scar still burns from time to time, as well as other sensations(and this weird 2 inch space under my belly button hip to hip from being obese and pregnant and everything settling back in to much different spaces) . Doc said it's normal. I have nerves that heal VERY slowly. The edge of my tongue is still partially asleep from wisdom teeth removal 7 years ago. It was totally numb, and it's slowly almost back to life. My brother is the same way (but with many, many more surgeries ).

I was sleeved in August 23rd and have had mild to moderate pain and soreness. Then yesterday it started to REALLY hurt again. In fact, I even took a Percocet this morning that I had leftover from the surgery. I'm a bit surprised by this, but I was just with my surgeon yesterday (for a surprise ulcer...grr) and she said soreness and some pain is still expected at this point.

August 17th for me, and I was still sore around the 4 week mark. On Thursday of this past week, it just seemed like the pain went away. I didn't have to use my abdominal binder since Thursday! But call your surgeon when in doubt!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
