It absolutely makes NO freaking sense to me... **MY RANT**

@@cbonet No one was ridiculed in the posts this week and it was the same old crap - cheerleaders for doing what you want rather than following your Drs orders.

I agree - I needed the kick in the ass for another Protein Shake. I ask advice for help and other experiences, not coddling. I can call my Mommy for that (but that'd get me an ass whopping over the phone haha!)

Yeah I was about to post how I am feeling real down lately because I read about people losing crazy amount of weight at a much lower bmi than me. Im over here puttin along. I have lost about 60someodd pounds since my surgery in may. Then I read others that dropped 100lbs in that time. And yes I get my Protein and Water in. Sitting here at 329lbs wondering why am I slowmo.

Just keep doing your program. I'm sure you went with a successful surgeon. From what I've noticed, my surgeon is stricter than most, but only 1 failed outcome. His entire staff is former wls patients except my nut. The nurse, the nurse assistant, the PA, the psych eval therapist. All went through wls. So, I trust he's learned and this is the best plan.

I don't get on the scale outside of appointments. I'm personally focusing on getting in enough liquid, then Protein. Everyone's focus should be different, all of our bodies are different. And 60+ pounds is awesome!!!

Keep on keepin on

A lot of people do lose a lot really fast at a low bmi. There are lots of people with lower BMIs than I have that have lost weight monthly faster. Some people are just younger, and that makes sense, if I had the sleeve when I was like 24/25 I would have lost weight super fast but...

It comes at a cost though for some people. They stay on low calories and Protein forever, and they ruined their metabolism. They are stuck on low calories forever. I might not be at goal weight in 14 months, but I still have a normal functioning metabolism. I can cut calories if I feel like it because I still have calories I can cut. I still lose on 1300-1500 calories a day. If I needed to, I could cut to 1000 or 1100. Those people that stick to 800-1000 for months and months on end, end up never being able to eat much more than that without gaining. They have ruined their metabolism. Read here long enough (and other forums) and you will see it all the time.

Don't worry about other people just follow your program, after all this is the internet, everyone could be lying.

So, I've been a "lurker" as someone put it for the past couple of months...going through pre-op approval (psychological testing in a certified mental institution and all), the joys of getting a surgery date, having my surgery moved up more than a month (to the point where I had the choice to start my two week pre-op diet 12 hours later or postpone-I picked the former option ) to the realities of surgery and being in the hospital (first time ever) to the more-painful-than-expected recovery, to the questions and questions and questions. And now, still so new (surgery was 9/7) to all of this, but finally feeling compelled to contribute and not just read along.

I can honestly not even put into words how much gratitude I feel towards everyone on this app. This process is undoubtedly exciting, but it's also full of so so so many unknowns. It's been a comfort to have the ability to come here and see what others are going through, hear from those who have reached their goals, see the pride and support in the progress photos and have my own questions answered instead of needing to call my surgeon every.single.day. for the first week (excessive nausea-normal? My eyesight is strange-is this temporary? I have an indentation in my stomach-is this a sign of something bad? I can't get more than 4 oz of Protein in one sitting-am I going to be ok? My pain is terrible-how long will it last? Etc etc etc)

I've used this site for everything-answers to my questions (thanks so much for the Nioxin recommend ps!), educating myself on what I can expect (stalls, I'm ready for you!), sharing in successes (albeit silently) and also learning what NOT to do. Some of it may seem so obvious (eating macaroni three days out) but some are honest mistakes that help us learn from one another and become our best selves.

Long story short, I appreciate every post on here for helping to make my experience better, and I look forward to eventually becoming one of those before/after success stories.

-Allison

Its called not wanting to accept responsibility. You arr only allowed to praise people. If you criticize, you are bullying.

Remember, praise tacos and pork chops. Because everyones an is different!

It's like the mindset that everyone has to have a trophy for just showing up. Instead of winning. Giving it your all with the best of your talent is wonderful, and we are all good at different things. But to feel we must be rewarded for everything and unaccountable for little is nuts. My rant.

There are a ton of people that post here that lost a ton of weight really fast because they were basically on a prisoner of war diet and they starved for weeks/months. Long term that is going to do them more damage than good, so yeah its awesome they lost 100 pounds in 4 months or whatever, but they aren't telling they went through to get there, just that they got there.

LOL. I lost 102 lbs in the first 4 months. But just for the record, I did it being 99.99% compliant with my doctors instructions (ok, so I did have a couple of potatoes chips once or twice). I wouldn't consider it a "prisoner of war" diet. But your comment did make me laugh.

Meh...my motto is "you do you and I'll do me".

It's too much energy to get worked up over someone in the Internet getting worked up.

I'm just here to talk. That's all this is...a discussion. Easy enough to move on.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
