kittykatja85 34 Posted September 22, 2016 Surgery was 9/14 for my sleeve. Everything has went okay except for Protein and meeting 64 oz of Water a day but surgeons office said to just keep trying as best I can and that I'll get there. My problem is I'm just a depressed mess. I have a history of depression and anxiety and have crushable/disolvable pills but nothing is helping. I'm having momentary regret. I'm aware this will be worth it in the end but right now I just want it over. I can't stop crying at random times. I miss intimacy with my husband. I miss food. I miss coffee. I just need some encouragement please that this will be done soon and I will be back to a better life than I had before. heidikat72 935 Posted September 22, 2016 Even without a history of depression, it is completely normal to be an emotional wreck that first week or two after surgery. You just had major surgery and can't really do much except sit around and think...and think...and think. It does get better! When the negative/self-doubting thoughts come on, focus on why you got the surgery and all the things you want to do as you get healthier. For me, it definitely helped planning things to look forward to. If you have a counselor, see if they will do a session over the phone with you until you feel like venturing out. Although as long as you have someone to drive you if you are still on the pain meds, you might welcome a chance to get out of the house! I know as soon as I'd been off the pain meds 2 days, I was very excited to get out even for just a little bit. That also helped get past that early emotional funk. Take care and trust that it does indeed get better.
Pescador 1,374 Posted September 22, 2016 Depression has been long standing in my life. I lost my son at age 30 and I really shut down Nov and Dec, his death and his birthday. Then it lifts. I understand. You can cuddle with your husband and love his physical wrapping his arms around you. Just think how many magical moments you will have when you lose weight. You must focus on the boost to your health and y,our marriage with this surgery, because it has been life changing for me and my husband. Focus on the POSITIVE and move forward, you did the right thing.
KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 22, 2016 @@kittykatja85 I'm sorry that you are having a tough time emotionally! Your body is releasing hormones as you burn fat. It's tough on a lot of people regardless of existing depression or anxiety. Write a list of all the wonderful things you want to do when you lose weight and keep your eyes on the prize. Try having some flavored tea instead of coffee (or ask your surgeon if you can have coffee - many allow it). It won't be long before you can be intimate again and I'm told sex will be even better! Try and get your fluids in - that'll make you feel better too! Stay strong!

Sharon1964 2,530 Posted September 23, 2016 I'm about 13 months out. It is SOOOOO worth it. The early days will fly by, your body will stop being flooded with hormones, and the changes in you will be amazing. You can do this!

Browneyedgirl41 176 Posted September 29, 2016 I'm now 3 weeks plus out from surgery and am feeling pretty good. I got to start on mushy foods this week and I think that has helped. How are you?
kittykatja85 34 Posted September 29, 2016 I've been doing pretty miserable but I just had my 2 week post op and got cleared for mushies. So hopefully another few days and I'll be feeling great. I'm just tired and they think it's due to lack of Protein. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Hehe oh man, the pureed stage was like someone freeing me from a straitjacket. Just to have more choices helped me too. Glad you're feeling good . kittykatja85 34 Posted September 30, 2016 So after having some mush today (pureed salmon with dill and refried Beans with some salsa and avocado) I can definitely say that I can see this being a turn around for me. So glad I got to move on today. Hopefully I can start cooking again and being creative Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

mollydeez 25 Posted October 8, 2016 Girl I had a meltdown tonight. My date is for October 17th. I usually go out and drink on the weekend. I feel so lonely. I ate chicken wings....they weren't breaded but definitely not the best choice I could have made. I'm so on edge and just need to power through it. Hang in there girl we got this. You're not alone in the misery ! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
