Hello All, I am new to this forum, I'm 4 weeks out and I believe I've hit a stall. I'm currently on the soft food Stage and I'm finding it easier to hit my Protein and Calorie goals, Water is so-so. I'm looking to get some work-out MOTIVATION and recipe ideas, as well as give any advise or answer any questions that I can. .. P.S. the reason I say I think I've hit a stall is due to the fact that I don't weigh myself at home at all. I'm waiting to get weighed at the DR. Office. I never weighed myself at home pre-op. I'm a little OCD...

What kinda stall did you hit? I made an appointment with my nutritionist around 4 weeks because I hit a plateau. She said I was doing fine. It's normal to hit a stall around this time because your body starts storing again. Sure enough, soon after, I started losing again. She helped me set my fitness pal app to 500 calorie, 51 Protein grams, 31g carbs, 19g fat. I never come close to the fat grams. And I'm now 7 weeks out and just starting to hit close to the 500 calories. You should also be exercising at least 5 days a week for 30 min a day. Weighing myself keeps me motivated to push further. Every 1/4lb helps. Lol

Welcome!

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight, you will experience stalls. Just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery.

As you are doing, weighing infrequently is a great strategy if you allow the numbers on the scale dictate how you feel.

The best thing to do in my experience is to:

Follow your program.

Track your food.

Make sure you are getting at least 64 oz of Fluid every day.

Make sure you are reaching your protein target every day. (What is your protein target? Mine is 100 grams.)

Avoid added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), starches, and fried foods.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise when cleared.

Please keep in mind that not eating enough can be just as "bad" as eating too much when it comes to optimizing your weight loss.

Embrace the Stall

Wow. Normally I would advise listening to your NUT, but from everything I have learned through this process both the calories and Protein recommended seem extremely low.

I'm not hungry at all! I couldn't eat more if I wanted to. She did say to increase with each phase or if I'm not feeling full.

Do what you can to increase your Protein as soon as possible. The sooner you can get your Protein and calorie numbers up the better you will feel, the faster you will heal, and the better your weight loss will be.

I'm doing good and feeling good just where I am at. This plan is working good for me. I think everybody is different when it comes to their plan.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
