I am only 1 week out of surgery and am not expecting to return for another 4 weeks. However, I bought a thermos and am planning on bringing a lot of Soups to work.

I go to Costcos and buy there chicken salad put it in 4 oz containers for the week. Then I made Protein balls with 2 scoops Quest Protein powder, 1/2 cup Peanut Butter, 1 tsp vanilla,1/2 cup oats,1 tsp agave and a splash of milk you mix and roll into balls makes 10 balls. 60 cal each, 7 grams of Protein I let people at work, try them and they loved them also. Going to try almond butter instead of Peanut Butter next.

I took 1 cheese stick and split it into 4 pieces and rolled each piece in a deli thin piece of ham, I also took a hard boiled egg cut into quarters and a sugar free Jello cup . It was literally more than I could eat for about 6 months. I tried to eat a piece of egg and 1 of the roll ups every 2 hours.

Mcnaira44 I don't know if you use a tracking system or not but I find it very very useful. I use FatSecret.com only because it has a lot of other info, recipes etc that I like. I have a sleeve and used the tracking system to put my I days food intake in the morning. What I like is that it has almost every food, every food company and even will tally up your own recipe . I keep my carbs at 40 or under for the day, my calories at 750 or under, and my Protein at 70 or over. This way you can pretty much eat the food you want to eat but you know when you have reached your limit for the day. I often have to re-think my meal item and sometimes come up with a different plan. Today I wanted to include a desert apple into my evening snack. I had thought of apple dumplings but they have pie crust so I recalculated it and came up with a way to use diet soda boiled down to a Syrup, peeled and cut up apples that I will cook in the diet soda syrup and add some pumpkin pie seasoning. I will eat a 1/2 cup full and I will still be within my limits and in fact a bit under . I couldn't have figured that out without the tracking system. I would always be over eating what I should by guessing. I also always include a muscle milk Protein shake either for breakfast or mid day. (20 g Protein, 130 calories, 5 grams carbs and less than 1 gram sugar). I have gained about 20 lbs in the last couple years because I wasn't watching my intake...not tracking my food. Back at it and in just a couple days I am down 4 lbs.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
