How long until you can lift a (21lb) baby?

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering how long I will need to have someone home to help me with the baby after surgery?

I think after surgery they put me on a weight lifting restriction of 10 or 15 pounds. I think this was in effect until my doctor's appointment when they removed the stitches. But that was around 3 years ago so I do not totally recall. Perhaps someone more recent can chime in.

Okay so they just called me back and said it will be a month before I can lift 20lbs. That's going to be tough to follow. I may just spent a lot of time on the floor with her. How hard is it to get down on the floor and back up again a week after surgery?

I was sore and a little out of it the first 3-4 days after surgery, when I was off the pain med totally I was back to normal and watching my kids/ sisters kids a week out, she had a 12 month old 25lb baby and I either changed her on the floor or had my son lifting her, but it still would have been doable with out my son if I didn't have to take her anywhere...

*edited to add I did have an easy recovery, no gas pains from the surgery, not sure if that makes a difference. Good luck with your upcoming surgery![emoji2]

My doctor told me 6 weeks but I couldn't wait. My husband stayed home for the first week and then I was all on my own after that. My daughter weighs 25lbs and I did lift her when I had too. You can feel a pull, just take it easy. I started letting her climb into her car seat herself. You just forget sometimes and are reminded "oh shit! That hurt" I wish I could avoid it because I don't want to hurt myself but it's impossible. Im 3.5 weeks out and starting the feel pretty normal

My daughter was 25lbs and I did my best not to lift her for 2 weeks, but it was sometimes unavoidable. After 2 weeks I did it all the time and never had a problem even though my Dr has the 4 week no lifting restrictions as well.

I'm in the same boat. Well sorta. My son is 18 lbs and I'll be getting surgery in November. I was told I can't lift anything above 20lbs for 6 weeks. So my mom is coming from Colorado to help with the babies for 3 weeks then I'm on my own. In your case, I would try to find someone to come help you for the first week at least! Do you have any family that can come stay for a week?

I was restricted to no more than 10 lbs for 6 weeks. I'm six weeks and was lifting a carry on bag to the overhead this week, easily 25 lbs

Depends on how ur made I think! I had bypass and the next week I was carrying bucket of food moving over 50 bags but not picking them up! Dumping Water out of the pools for our ducks. I keep my ab muscles tight and use my legs to pick up , it really depends but I say Waite to pick up the baby bc one wrong move and you will regret it

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
