Was it a whole pork chop? I would call your doctors office and tell them what happened because the last thing you want is to get sick and find out there is a leak. Was it pureed or did you chew it?

Wow.....don't think I could even eat a whole pork chop. Took me all day to eat 3 oz of shredded chicken breast. If I eat too fast or eat too much I feel really sick. I'm not hungry most of the time and when I am a very, very small amount of food satisfies me. My surgeon told me that if we over do it to take a day or two back on liquids to give my stomach a chance to "normal out".

If you're still feeling sick I'd give your surgeon a call.

You need to stop thinking of your post op eating plan as a "diet"....it's not! it's a prescription. It's not something you can cheat on. Most of your stomach has been removed and what's left is being held together with staples. It's not had time to heal and that's the reason you're not supposed to eat solid food. If your stomach leaks food and stomach acid into your abdomen it will cause an abscess and can very quickly become life threatening......so eating solid food too soon is like not taking a prescribed medication that is necessary in order for you to heal..........With this surgery it's hard to picture what your insides look like because you don't have a big incision on the outside.....all you have are the little incisions that look mostly healed. But those are not the incisions you need to be worried about. The whole length of your stomach has a huge staple line that is red and swollen....if you haven't watched a video of the actual surgery I encourage you to go to YouTube and watch the actual surgery so you can have a clear picture of what was done to you. So perhaps next time you feel hungry you'll be able to make a better choice.

In the meantime you need to check in with your surgeon's office and let them know what you ate and how you're feeling so they can determine if anything needs to be done....

I wish you the best. Good luck.

@@shani1970 I'm so happy to hear it. I hope it wasn't a rough night. If you're still on liquids, try making Soup with milk, then strain out the solid bits, Jello, stuff like that. Tomato Soup with milk, etc. You might want to really take it easy for a day or two on your stomach after yesterday. just things that are super easy to digest.

so I always think of that new stomach as if you had an external stapled wound. would you rub hard food into it? of course not! chewed up food? NO! this is why you are on liquids during this time.

at a week I was on full liquids and found sf puddings with Protein, Jello, unsweetened applesauce with Protein to be filling. I was also allowed Protein shakes.

just imagine that healing wound line and be kind to it.

at one month I was cleared (medically speaking) to eat any kind of foods. not that any food is approved for me for weight loss - but that any food will not HURT my healing stomach. go slow, be kind.

Yes do make sure you check your individual plan to ensure you are sticking with what is ordered by your doctor. At one week out I was also on what is called "full liquids"....and it included Greek Yogurt and sugar free pudding as well.....Strained Soups were also very good at that point...I liked the Progresso Soups.< /p>

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
