I heard with the sleeve you all do not get hungry. Is this true? Also has anyone had the sleeve and weighed over 350 lbs before surgery had much success in the first year?

Head hunger for me is when I want something to eat but my body isn't hungry. It is confusing but when I think I am hungry I have a glass of Water and the desire goes away. Overall, I have to remind myself to eat. I forget which is the strangest concept.

The surgery cuts off the part of the stomach with the hunger hormones. Some say hunger comes back down the road but not with the same vengeance as pre surgery. Also, stomach acid can mimic hunger but I haven't had to deal with that.

I'm only five weeks out, but I do get very hungry sometimes. The good thing: it doesn't take much to make the feeling go away; like maybe a piece of string cheese and a SF popsicle, or a container of Triple Zero yogurt and a few almonds.

I get hungry, both head hunger and real hunger.

I've heard that with VSG and RNY the part of the stomach that produces the hunger hormone gets cut off/so much of your stomach is removed that the hunger hormones are drastically reduced. I've also heard that hunger comes back over time (stomach/hormones adjusting to the proceedure?). It seems like everyone may have a different experience.

Not that I don't think I will get hungry but supposedly you should not get hungry with Sleeve. I also hear it takes longer to loose the weight. I'm already planning my vacation and I don't even have a date yet. Lol so I just want some of this weight off .

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
