Did you cheat on Pre Op?

Recommended Posts

Y'all, I am having surgery on 9/22.

I cheated on my pre op and had chicken tenders and fries. I feel guilty and I don't know. I can tell I have changed and I am working on changing my eating habits. It's just going to take a while to get use to. Of course, the feeling of never being full right now is really bothering me. I don't feel satisfied or full. I am scared of surgery. Really I am nervous and scared of throwing up after surgery. I am worried about the pain, and the gas.

My surgery is in two days!!!!!

You will be okay. It could have been worse. Like Soda etc. Also, I dont know about you but guilt always makes me feel worse enough to eat more.Try not to cheat during the 48 hours before for sure!

Good luck!

Has your surgeon provided a post op diet for all stages? They are lots of recipes on the net and this site, but too early to worry about that yet.

Being sleeved is a huge commitment to yourself. You really have to be ready to follow your surgeons advice and eating plan. It can be downright dangerous and even life threatening during the healing phase to make up your own rules. The sleeve will do its part but you have to do yours.

Yes he provided a pre op diet.... low carb, low sugar, high Protein. I am trying to find some recipes and such. I have surgery in two days.

I was asking about a post op diet. You should be given specific information on eating stages such as Clear liquids, full liquids, puree, soft food and then solids and how long to be on each stage. You shouldn't have to figure it out by yourself. Daily Protein and Water goals.Once you get back to solids, you can use recipes. Ask your surgeons office for that kind of info.

Sorry to laugh, haha, but I cheated on my pre-op diet. I didn't have Protein shakes, well maybe two within my two week pre-op diet. I had burger king, Arby's, and tons of subway. I know I shouldn't have done that but the reasoning is to shrink your liver. I heard that is uncommon for them to open you up and nothing happen due to a fatty liver, but also that it can happen. And don't worry, you don't even feel hungry after surgery. That smell made me nauseous when I smelt it after surgery.

*and I had tons of Water two days before my surgery because I was so paranoid they would cancel due to a fatty liver*

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
