jolomom 1 Posted September 19, 2016 Just trying to get some info. My surgery is one week from today. From time to time I need to take Claritin for allergies. I know everything is supposed to be liquid or chewable. How are y'all handling meds popping up that aren't liquid or chewable? TIA Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 19, 2016 @@jolomom I believe Claritin has one that melts in your mouth. I haven't found out exactly what to do about meds yet (I take Zyrtec every night) but I think once swelling goes down we'll be able to swallow smaller pills. suzzzzz 1,005 Posted September 19, 2016 I swallowed all pills whole starting the day after surgery with no problems. One is fairly large. You shouldn't have a problem with Claritin but ask your surgeon.
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted September 19, 2016 My surgeon had me swallowing anything that would fit through a standard size wedding ring starting within a couple hours of surgery. I had no problems. Claritin pills are tiny, they shouldn't be an issue, but check with your surgeon to be sure.
