Year after bypass surgery. Question regarding food & protine intake

Recommended Posts

I am struggling with my meal and Protein Protein intake. If I eat 3 healthy small portions a day, with no Protein shake. I tend to crave to snack more. If I add a Protein Shake I seem to gain weight, & I was told never to snack. Then if I try to drink one shake through the day, & 1 meal for dinner. I tend to be more hungry at night. What's the general rule of thumb? How many meals & shakes do you intake? Please advise....

Hello! I'm a little over 13 months post op and I drink a shake every morning for Breakfast, sometimes over a period of hours. Then I normally have 2 more full meals, but I eat them in increments throughout the day. So I basically eat three decent meals, but over the whole day in spaced out into several little meals. It feels like I'm snacking, and since I'm still prioritizing Protein, it keeps me full for the entire day. And in between there, I'm drinking Water. Hope this helps!

Yes most definitely! Thank you. I thought maybe I should be eating more cause I was only eating one full meal. But, just recently started getting hungry at night and feeling a bit tired. Been struggling a bit. Then I started eating more but then I craved more.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
