We fired up the smoker today and have a little bit of fun with pork and salmon. The first thing I did was this pork loin. It is a real simple apple wood smoke and I drizzled it with about a quarter of a cup of honey.

Next up salmon smoking time! This is a very simple brine of brown sugar and salt. Once again they were smoked with apple wood and honey.

This one is my brother-in-law's. As you can see it isn't a pretty chrome color and the flesh reflects that.

My beautiful wife caught this one! Beautiful coloring means beautiful meat!

Valentina, I know that you are going to see these fillets and you'll cry. Don't worry, I have officially handed over the fillet knife to Mrs. Fat Man!

Crying??? Hell, I've gone way beyond that!!! I'm weeping and waling!!!!!

You gave the knives over to your wife while you're still calling her, "Mrs Fat Man"?

Too bad you two fisherpeople live on the "wrong" side of the country. :)

My brother-in-law took a frozen ham from here through the airport to Chicago. Get yourself a fish and a plane ticket and come on out to Oregon!

I figured that I can call her damn near anything after her being pregnant and then having problems with milk production after my son was born. I was on the phone talking to my sister and she asked how it was going and I explained that Jeanna was like a regular heifer! She said oh God don't tell her that! I said that I already had. I guess that makes Mrs. Fat Man easy to swallow...

Don't you have any fish out there??? ;)

You could join Dub and myself for surf fishing 101. When? don't know. Where? haven't a clue.

Just knowing that he knows NOTHING about surf fishing makes if fun to think about ... :)

I'm rather surprised that she isn't "Widow Fat Man".

Be NICE to your baby's mamma. It's not easy pulling a Rottweiler through a knothole.

The salmon is gorgeous! I got over carbs and sugar months ago in this pre-op diet. It's salmon that I am going to miss for a few weeks after the surgery. It will be happily re-integrated into my diet as soon as my new tummy will tolerate it.

The wife out fishes me every single dang time!

The last cast of the day and I brought in the rainbow on the bottom. Jeanna sets her pole down on the dock with the spinner just about a foot in the Water and she caught the one with the dollar bill on it. Look at how much fatter that beautiful rainbow is than mine. Of course it is longer too!

I may as well trust her with a fillet knife and she has access to all of the above or do what is being done in the pictures below. Yes that's correct that is my sweetie with a plasma cutter. If I want my truck and do a couple thousand pieces all it would take would be for me to piss her off right!

The last time I saw something that had money on it and smelled like fish, there was a 2 drink minimum. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
