Hi, I'm new here. I was banded on 15 August 2007. I am mid way thru my 3rd week and I am very hungry. On my 2 week visit to my Dr. (Dr. Foreman, Huntsville, AL) I had lost 12 pounds. YAY~!! But, told him I was getting very hungry, and didn't feel *full* like I did the first week. My startout weight was 290 and I am 5'9". So, working on 278 now and don't know what to do. I need help with some foods to eat. My Dr. recommends solids after 6 weeks.......I'm sick of smashed black eyed peas and Lima Beans, but, I love my Protein Shakes....Using the Champion French vanilla, s/f and Decaf. mocha swiss International coffee, w/ a teaspoon of s/f Hazelnut Syrup and 3 packs of Splenda.....it's awesome...but, I can't live on that alone. All ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks~!!

I lived on broccolli cheese Soup, cottage cheese-berries-and-splenda, peanut butter-and-bananas, hummus, and scrambled eggs-cheese-and-salsa. Don't worry too much that your weight loss has slowed down. That's perfectly normal. It will pick up again after you get proper restriction.

Best of luck to you!

I was banded 1 day after you & I am experiencing the same bad hunger. I haven't had anything come back or get stuck so maybe that is the problem. The only thing I am really dealing with anymore is gas pains after I eath lunch & dinner but aside from that I feel no restriction.:faint:

Think of what you are hungry for, then toss it in the blender with some Fluid that would thin it.

I wanted Mexican, so I tossed some FF refried Vegetarian Beans, salsa, Greek Strained Yogurt (I use it instead of sour cream b/c it has good protein) and some cheese queso in the blender, it satisfied the Mexican craving. on the Fourth of July I tossed a small can of baked beans and a hot dog and some BBQ Sauce and a little catsup with it to thin it and pureed that. I pureed some cucumbers and dressing, I pureed some crab and mayo and Greek yogurt and onion. I pureed chicken and grapes and Greek yogurt and mayo and a little apple for a chicken salad. I pureed eggs and mayo and onion and a little pickle when I wanted egg salad.

Get creative!!!!!

Hi Faith,

I'm not banded yet; I have my first appointment on Sept 10.

I had to laugh when I saw that you pureed baked Beans and a hotdog, I almost said "Yuck" but I know I'll be there myself. I am waiting for my magic bullet to arrive and I know I'll get great use of it.

Good luck alfie! I stayed away from the Magic Bullet, I know lots of people love them, but considering I was planning to puree real food frequently and give my blender a workout, the Bullet just doesn't have enough power for me. It is only 205 or 250 watts, I can't remember which. 205, I think. Walmart sells a version online that is 350 watts and is less than 1/2 the price:

Back to Basics 3-Speed Brushed Chrome Personal Blender Express, BPE3BR - Wal-Mart

If you are not a Walmart fan, you can get it a bit pricier at:

Back TO Basics Products BPE3BR 350W Blender Express

I just went ahead and purchased a regular Oster 450 watt that came with a personal sized blender jar.

For $40 I got a 450 watt blender, a personal size blender and it had a food processor attachment, too! Also from Walmart.

I'm not banded yet, but getting ready. Maybe I should return The Magic Bullet - I just bought it @ KMart this weekend - It was $70.00. Do you mean that it wasn't powerful enough to completely puree foods? What about Protein Shakes?

Thanks!

Maria

Many people LOVE their bullet. Please don't think that it's crap, because it isn't. I just wasn't completely happy with the way it pureed foods. It does a GREAT job with most Protein Drinks. I've read a couple comments from folks who like to use lots of ice, or who use globs of Peanut Butter, but most folks love their Bullet too. I just wanted to mention that there are other options with more power for a LOT less money. But the other options do not come with as many cups as the Bullet does. However, you should not mix your Protein Drink and sit it in the fridge and sip on it all day, they say the Protein begins to break down after a while.

Thanks for your prompt reply Faithmd! Thank you for the heads up regarding letting the Protein drink sit for long periods of time. I would think it may start to separate as well. Maybe making small drinks (one at a time) would work better. I'm still having a hard time trying to imagine eating (drinking) meals that have been pureed! The only thing that sounded remotely good was the blended egg salad. I've been on this site for a few months and I have to say I really respect everything you post, you are a "good" bandster and someone I look up to! Thanks for all the great insight!

Maria

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
