lalame 56 Posted September 18, 2016 I had my surgery 09/06/16. My incisions are red and itchy and have been 3 days post surgery. I removed the surgical tape. It appears to be an allergic reaction from the surgical tape/glue. Saw my surgeon. No infection. I was told to put Neosporin on the incision and hydrocortisone cream around them. 4 days later, the incision are still itchy and red. Anything else I should do? Hellya 144 Posted September 18, 2016 That's miserable. I have sensitive skin so I anticipated that problem and asked for derma bond instead of tape. I have no idea if that will be better, but I'm hoping. That was not helpful to you at all, sorry. I've dealt with eczema my whole life so I know how uncomfortable it is to be itchy and rashy. *hug* Hopefully it will get better soon.
TexasFred 7 Posted September 18, 2016 I had my band removed in May, same exact thing.. Then came the most irritating rash ever... I did take Benadryl, apparently I was allergic to the Dermabond they used.. I was sleeved 6 days ago, I went into surgery with them aware of me being allergic to Durmabond , and my incesisions are doing great this time around.. Benadryl did help.. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Genr2d2 21 Posted September 20, 2016 I used Benadryl gel and that gave me relief until I was able to peel the derma bond off once I thought the incisions had healed.
magicianbeautician74 26 Posted September 25, 2016 Definitely use the Benadryl cream or gel. It's a miserable sensation that you don't have to suffer thru!! I didn't close in for over ten days and suffered needlessly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
