Cheated on my preop liquid diet, will the dr cancel my surgery?

Recommended Posts

My daughter cheated as well, but got on track. She had her surgery as planned without any damage. But this diet is done for a reason. Just mention it to your surgeon. Better be honest then later regret it

9/15. I'm definitely in the regret phase, but feel better coming on here to know I'm not crazy haha.

I'm sure it will get easier with time. I have surgery in two days. I am scared and nervous. I have anxiety on a daily basis. My biggest thing is learning what to eat and what not to eat. I am still a little confused. I thought I knew until I started my pre op diet, but I don't. So that's what the next two days are going to consist of.

I really hope it gets better for you! Have you talked to your doctor?

Thanks. I have - my surgeon seems to be really, really strict. My liquid phase is 10 days, others seem to be 5 or 7. He was also strict about meds in the hospital. (Lack of, that is). I asked for applesauce to be permitted to help swallow meds - waiting to hear, but also thinking a half cup of SF applesauce can't cause harm?

Good luck with your surgery - from what I can tell it's the 15 pills a day I take causing most of my issues so I'm sure you'll be great!

Oh goodness. Yeah I only take 3 pills a day. So hopefully it will be okay.

I am ready to get it over with, and ready to get into the recovery stages. Like right now, I feel like I could eat a mountain of something.... I don't want to be this hungry anymore. I hate it. I also have a 4 year old. So when we are eating and he wants something that I can't have. I can't tell him no because I can't have it. So that's making it pretty hard as well... but I will just have to learn to live with it.

I remember I had made Pasta well into half of my daughters liquid pre-op diet. She was so mad, and later I caught her chewing a mouthful of Pasta then spitting it out. Lol guilt. It's going to be hard but not impossible. When I had my pro and post op liquid stage, I'd make food, serve it to my kids then go outside with a shake or Popsicle. Sometimes I'd take a walk and ask the kids to help and put the left overs away before my walk was over. It helped

It'll get easier for sure, hunger wise. Fairly non existent.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
