MonaBr5 6 Posted September 18, 2016 Looking for experienced lap Band to sleeve conversions. I had my Lap band removed 11/2015, Sleeved Sept 8,2016! I’ve lost maybe 1 pound or 2 lbs, since being home this week/ 8days post op. I’m starting to think-this sleeve will not be a rapid weight loss for folks like me who had a band for (2006-15!!), so WOW 9 years. My weightless was low, at 45 lbs, in the beginning , but I Know it kept me for gaining. Then once removed back to my original weight of 250. Do you Ex-banders have as much success as the other newbies? Thanks all! I’ve been creeping here for months, glad I finally signed in.
Mrs. Wyckoff 6 Posted September 18, 2016 I had the Lap-Band surgery June of 2015 and had lost 68 pounds in a year. I didn't drop as fast as I would like (I am sure my personal habits were to blame). No complications with the band other than discomfort, but I realized that I needed a different option so I had the revision surgery to the Sleeve this past 4th of July. A few days after the revision surgery I came home and weighed myself; I gained 3 pounds. I think it was due to the IV Fluid, unless I was right about the Dr. smuggling something in my stomach (I had my surgery in Mexico, lol). However by the third week after surgery, my total loss was 20 pounds. It will come off, don't get discouraged and be aware that in a few more weeks you might hit the stall (which is very common). I had my stall for 3 weeks, although it felt like months. I am back to losing again. Yay! Think positive so you can heal well! Slow or fast, you will be dropping. Best wishes. Same here....Un banded in Dec 15 then sleeved 9-14-16 not even off liquids yet. Extremely nervous that the sleeve won't work at all bc of that stupid band. Lost 80lbs in the first 2 years....banded in 09.....once I had my son in 12 it's like it quit working, kept having to have Fluid removed to be comfortable gained everything right back. I know my worries are just my insecurities....but there will always be that nagging in the back of my brain telling me nothings going to happen. I lost 18 lbs on my 1 wk clear liquid diet and an additional 3 lbs since....go for my 1 week post op appointment mentioned tomorrow....we will see how soon to expect things to happen.....I'm good with it coming off slowly....as long as it's coming off. Good luck on your journey! Keep posting and let us know how it's going! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
Sai 785 Posted September 19, 2016 I went back and checked out my records when I first had my lap band. I've lost weight faster with the sleeve so far. The first couple of months of my lap band I was still trying to find my sweet spot so I didn't really lose. Total I lost 129 lbs with the lap band, with the first year I lost 70 lbs (averaging ~6 lbs a month), and the second year I lost another 59 lbs. I'm post -op day 18 sleeve, and with these 18 days and the pre-op diet, I've already lost all the weight I gained by being unfilled for 5 months (~25 lbs). Maybe a stall is in my future but having the band for so long, with the slow but steady weight loss, with many stalls hehe... I feel pretty much immuned to worrying about them. All I care is that I don't go over average ~1400 cal/day. Weight loss for me is insured at that amount of calories. With the sleeve, I'm having a hard time going over 800 calories so I'm good to go.
