Four Months Before and After Pics

Recommended Posts

Hello all, today it has officially been four months and one week since I had VSG. I went from a size 24 to a size 14 pants and a 3-4X shirt to a 1x. I started out over 300 pounds and have lost 80 lbs. I was bigger than the Before picture I have posted but I didn't take any pictures after that one. The after pictures were taken today :) I still have about 70 pounds to reach goal but I am taking it one day at a time. I am a work in progress!!

I was on Clear Liquids for only three days, then on pureed. My surgeon allowed me to go to the next stage when I wanted to. There were no set time limits. I do go to Orange Theory 4 - 5 times a week and have been going since six weeks out of surgery. I eat the usual Protein foods: chicken, tuna, fish, beef, eggs, cheese, greek yogurt and still have to have a Protein shake daily to meet my Protein goals.

YOU LOOK WONDERFUL AND HAPPY...MY SURGERY IS NOV 9 FOR THE SLEEVE NERVOUS BUT EXCITED

I was really nervous too. Since the day I decided to have VSG to the actual surgery was about 4 weeks. I went with a private surgeon in Montreal so I didn't need to have any special requirements for the surgery - other than my high BMI. I was a diabetic on insulin and metformin and had sleep apnea. I no longer have diabetes, don't take any medicine, and my sleep apnea is gone. It was the best decision I have ever made for myself.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
