My sleeve was done on 9/9. I did well, and I was started on clears the day after.. Now I did clears for 2 weeks prior to surgery, but I also had the Optifast for something to offset that. I stuck primarily with popsicles, Jello and Water, water, water. Now post-op, per instructions, i am to be on clears for 2 weeks, then full liquid for 2 weeks. I never thought I'd look forward to a Protein Shake but hey...

Now with nothing but clears...I've have come to the conclusion that I loathe canned/packaged chicken broth. Gagghhh!!! Just can't choke it down. I find it way too salty. This stuff is for cooking, not drinking.

What is other's thought's on making a big ol' pot of chicken Soup (the kind my grandmother put matzo balls in) and straining out the broth, not leaving any veggies, etc.. I'd freeze the rest for a later date. It would be relatively clear but does anyone think it might be too much, too soon?

That sounds so much more tasty and probably a healthy method of preparation too.

That's the original broth and that's what I do :) I couldn't stomach packaged stuff either.

That's what I did. I couldn't stand another canned broth.

If you can cook that is awesome. If you can't don't get the canned broth it is high in sodium. The broth's at Whole Foods are of a nice quality and very delicious. The lamb broth is amazing.

Did a ton of Egg Drop Soup during that phase. Felt I owed it to the local chinese restaurant, being that I had been a frequent flier (hehe!)>

@@Autumn Fury it depends on your plan and your food stage. If you are on liquids, yes, you should strain out eggs and anything else. If you aren't positive, definitely check in with your bariatric team or dietitian for guidance.

Most packaged broth has added sugar and is awful. I make my own broth and it's reallly pretty satisfying.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
