Loose Skin Surgery

Recommended Posts

Is anyone thinking of having it done or had it done? I'm pretty sure I'll be off for a full-body lift when I'm at target. Presently I looked like I've been melted in the middle . I think my stomach on it's own weighs about 2 stone. :(

I'm definitely expecting to follow this path although I think I'm going to wait for a while I'm in an odd situation as I don't really know what my goal weight is yet although I don't think it's too far away, that said I think I'm going to hit the gym hard for a few months and tone as much as I can before I go for it

Will you go abroad or have it done over here?

Probably have it done over here to be honest, the cost is obscene but it feels like quite a big procedure to embark on without the safety net of being at home. I have chatted to my husband about the possibility of heading to Europe but I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea so it's pretty unlikely to go that way. Have you considered travelling for the surgery?

I'll definitely be going abroad. I'd rather save the extra cash and go on a spending spree when done. I saved £4.5k on my sleeve alone which will go some way to paying for the skin surgery.

After seeing how well everything went for my sleeve, I have no hesitation. I discussed it with my GP and she said she has no hesitation in supporting me after surgery abroad and that they are more strictly regulated over there than here.

Thanks for that, I self funded here and it certainly wasn't the cheapest option but it was a conscious choice but you've offered me some other options to reconsider because I have quite an extensive schedule of work on my wish list (I can't call it entirely a need list in clear conscience) and any reduction in cost will make it significantly more achievable

The only stipulation I would make is that I would make sure I stayed in the clinic for healing, not sent to some hotel to fend for myself malarkey. I like the idea of pressing a button and someone appears with a tablet to make me sleep through any uncomfortable times. I do not want to traipse through a hotel lobby looking like an unfinished project from Frankenstein's lab.

I have met with my surgeon already (who is fab) and now just waiting for a date. Its a little tight for this year as I can't take time off work in December, so I am looking at January. Unless he has cancellations of course and I can go asap!

I don't want to go abroad, just the travelling back puts me off. I am having a full Tummy Tuck, breast uplift and lower/upper eyes done. In six months or so I am looking towards having a thigh lift.

Bring on the morphine !! :P;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
