meganb25 4 Posted September 16, 2016 I was sleeved on Monday September 12th so of course I'm on a strict liquid diet this week. It is almost impossible to get my Protein in because the only thing I can have that contains Protein are the Bariatric Advantage shakes mixed with Water or New whey Liquid Protein shots. Both make me physically sick when I try to drink them. I'm wondering how badly it'll effect me to not get all my protein until Tuesday? Because that's when I can start full liquids and can drink the normal Protein Shakes again! I'm nervous I'm going to mess everything up. HorsecollarMinnie 45 Posted September 16, 2016 Have you called your surgeon? Perhaps I'll make an exception if you can't tolerate what they have advised. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Samara1974 116 Posted September 16, 2016 Everyone's instructions are different, I would contact your surgical team and ask them. My post op first week was Clear Liquids with no Protein shakes so I know you can make it and live
meganb25 4 Posted September 16, 2016 Everyone's instructions are different, I would contact your surgical team and ask them. My post op first week was Clear Liquids with no Protein shakes so I know you can make it and live Thank you!! That made me feel a thousand times better. I basically assumed that it wouldn't ruin everything but I needed at least one person to verify. And I did talk to my team and she basically said I need Protein no matter what. Which I completely understand, I'm strictly just talking about this first week. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted September 16, 2016 Protein is critical for healing. Definitely talk to your team about other options for getting in your protein and keep trying. Have you tried Isopure clear or another clear protein like ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. Bone Broth is another good source of clear protein. magicianbeautician74 26 Posted September 22, 2016 I had no Protein for the first 7 days, clear fluids only and my recovery has been super easy. ( sleeved 9/10/16) Second week of full liquids, your tummy seems to want the weight of the shakes, very satisfying. Or unflavoured Protein powder in Soup.
