As some of you know, one of my favorite rewards is getting a massage. I had one this week and was thinking about what progress I have made since surgery.

When I started getting massages I wasn't even sure if I could get on the massage table and needed help getting on the table and off. Now, I can get on and off the table all by myself as well as turn over on the table by myself, too!

That's awesome! Being obese and constantly worrying about those things causes people (myself included) to avoid a lot things they might otherwise enjoy.

Thank you for sharing your victory with us. For those of us just starting our journey it's a glimmer of light!

Totally agree! I have one monthly with someone I really trust - she has always made me feel normal, even at 385 pounds. Can't wait until turning over doesn't result in all the sheets and pads coming along with me!

that's great! I've studied massage therapy for about 30 years. have plans to go to school for it when Margaret graduates high school. I never would have had the stamina before my surgery.

Eeeewwww! No thank you.

With my Fibro, just the idea of some one laying their hands on me and applying pressure makes me hurt.

I realize that massage is wonderful of some people and helpful. It's just not for me.

I guess I'll just have to keep searching for my pleasure NSV. It's out there somewhere.

In the meantime, Enjoy ISG! You've certainly earned your "massage moments". Enjoy, my friend. :)

Yay!

The last time I has a massage, the well meaning massage therapist tried to sell me all these products to help eliminate Water weight.

She weighed 99 lbs soaking wet. What did I expect?

I look forward to having another massage down the road one of these days. :)

Thanks for bringing up the topic. It is a treat and I should try to be kind to myself more than I am. That is a good reward![emoji93]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
