@@Serenity141 Most of the time the goal is not necessarily weight loss - it's to shrink your liver to make surgery safer. Each patient (even with the same surgeon) can have different pre-op requirements (lose 10%, 2 week liquid diet, 4 weeks high Protein diet, etc.) I think weight loss during this also varies - depending on many factors - how much Water weight do you have to lose (were you previously dieting and lost that already), how much weight we have to lose (someone 400 lbs is going to lose more than someone 200 lbs). I'm going into my pre-op diet (2 weeks Protein shakes) without any weight loss expectations - I just care about my liver shrinking and my surgery being safe! I'll be thrilled with any weight loss.

My surgeon wants me to lose 10-12 lbs. during my 2 wk liquid diet. I'm following it very strictly. My work colleague was around 300 lbs starting weight and lost 18 lbs on the liquid diet. I'm sure there are many factors that affect it.

I am on day 5 of liquid diet and have lost 5 lbs. the first day was murder, but the last two days I just could care less. Today my daughter ate in front of me and it didn't bother me at all. Hopefully it stays this way for the next nine days.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
