starlight_dreams 15 Posted September 16, 2016 I have UMR but just at the starting gate. Haven't seen the doc yet oct 4th called UMR but they wouldn't tell me one way or the other if I'll be approved. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully someone out there can let us both know. Best of luck to ya! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

bostonmama 135 Posted September 17, 2016 ask your surgeon about dropping below 40 bmi. I had the same concern and my office said they submit the weight from your first visit, not from any of the follow up visits.
rolosmom7 740 Posted September 18, 2016 I unfortunately had to maintain a higher weight to qualify for surgery as I was in the 40-41 area the past year. If I lost 10 pounds, I was in trouble insurance wise.
hotmamma1979 42 Posted September 19, 2016 Ok thanks for the info. But how did you know this? I thought I was gonna have to do a diet before approval. If I follow the diet how can I maintain the BMI? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
rolosmom7 740 Posted September 19, 2016 My clinic told me. I worked with my pcp on the DASH diet, it is helpful for blood pressure but wouldn't necessarily make me gain weight. Think south beach with no salt (grain rice, grain Pasta, fish/chicken). My weight gain is also heavily from rx meds. So it's impossible to get off without serious intervention ie surgery.
