roostersrm 8 Posted September 15, 2016 Does anyone have any good broth based Soup recipes for preop sleeve. I am 3 days in and already sick of chicken broth! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 15, 2016 @@roostersrm To make my Soups I usually blend (food processor) onion, carrots, celery (and sometimes other veggies depending on what Soup I'm making) and saute with a little butter, add salt, pepper, garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, minced onion, and paprika (whatever spices you like). I then add boxed/canned broth (chicken, beef, vegetable) and simmer for quite a while (adding more spices if necessary). Usually there's no chunks but you could strain it if there were. You could also make an onion Soup and strain it for the broth.< /p>
roostersrm 8 Posted September 15, 2016 Thank you. That helps a lot. This pre-op diet is a little tough. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 15, 2016 I'm starting mine Oct 4th. I was originally told I didn't have one so was not mentally preparing.
roostersrm 8 Posted September 15, 2016 I started mine on 9/12 and it was sprung on me. So I haven't had time to research options for broth based Soups. I completely understand not being mentally prepaired. I was told on the Thursday before. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
Samara1974 116 Posted September 15, 2016 (edited) It's high in sodium but for a change you could use the broth packets from top ramen. Add unflavored Protein Powder to boost it's nutrition value. Edited September 15, 2016 by Samara1974

Autumn Fury 67 Posted September 16, 2016 I put some frozen veggies and small pieces of beef with beef broth into the crockpot and turned to it on. My preoperative diet allows a hearty broth based Soup. The dietician suggested doing it that way. I am not blending the veggies or meats, now I am worried seeing these post that I need to blend the soup. julsfit 133 Posted September 16, 2016 Can you buy a good Soup and just drain the broth out? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
Autumn Fury 67 Posted September 16, 2016 I called Dr. Office and was assured, I don't have to blend them until After surgery! Whew! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
