Marissa.Ann.C 21 Posted September 15, 2016 So I have Anthem BCBS and I have SEVERE anxiety about this pre op 6 month diet because I was denied 2 years ago. So far I've been 2 times (the initial appt and a follow up) and I've maintained but not lost anything. I'm going to be honest, I started back at school and wasn't really trying. Now my anxiety has really set in. I'm walking now and monitoring calories. My fear is that they will still deny no matter what I do. How much weight do I have to lose? How much did you lose? Help please! I'm walking 3X a week for 30 mins and taking in about 1700 calories. (MyFitnessPal) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
TCC2010 2 Posted September 15, 2016 I have the same insurance and I had to do the 6 months diet. I lost 27 lbs before my surgery and was approved. I had my surgery Aug 30. Did they not approve you due to not losing enough weight or was it something else? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using the BariatricPal App
Marissa.Ann.C 21 Posted September 15, 2016 I wasn't quite at the weight requirement and I didn't have any comorbid conditions (pre diabetes and PCOS but they didn't count those) I was under 40 for my bmi Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
TCC2010 2 Posted September 15, 2016 You do have to have a medical condition to get approved. I have sleep apnea, arthritis and my bmi was over 50. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using the BariatricPal App
Marissa.Ann.C 21 Posted September 15, 2016 Well now my bmi is over 40 so insurance doesn't require a comorbid condition Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

BecomingMeAgain 46 Posted September 8, 2017 From what my dietitian told me as long as you are at least 1 lb under what you started at with your 6-month Wayans it should be approved unless the dietitian doesn't think you're trying very hard it's going to all be up to what the dietitian rights in the letter and that's coming from my dietitianSent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app 1 ereese123 reacted to this
