Collar Bones-- When did you start to notice them

Recommended Posts

I've recently become interested in collar bones. I was flipping through some old pics and I never really noticed or cared that I had them. Now that I don't... apparently the appearance of collar bones are a hug NSV (non scale victory) and symbolize significant weight loss. I'm sure it's going to be different for everyone but I'm just curious at approx. what weight did you start to see them? No matter how I twist and hunch-- I cant find them anywhere! I feel them though-- looking forward to reuniting with them LOL!

I started at 271 and I think mind became prominent after I went below maybe 170, so for me it took a while.

Your question struck me because I was at a race a while ago and some male runners on my team were chatting about online dating, and they said that was how they could tell if a woman was heavy and just working camera angles so her pic looked thin. If they could see collar bones the woman qualified.

Weird!

Collar bones have always been sort of a "marker" for me for weight loss. I have "found" and "lost" my collar bones several times over the years. :-) I am still pre-op right now, but even with the pre-op diet (I've lost almost 20 lbs so far), my collar bones have started to emerge again! So exciting! I weigh 238 right now (I'm 5'8").

LMAO! I never thought about it like that... wow the things men come up with to size us up! LOL! Unless their fingers are the size of BANANAS-- I don't think they're qualified :P.

This is something that totally varies depending on the person. I am pre-op, over 300 pounds, and I can see my collarbones. Not that they're super prominent, but they are definitely visible.

It really depends person to person. I don't think mine stuck out when I weighed in the 120s in college.

I was Sleeved 12 Sep, feeling good, have another day to go before soft foods, can't wait to chew it (small curd of course). I'm a revision, had Lap band, the port flipped, no more constriction I was uncomfortable, had to lift bra to be comfortable, have lost 15 lbs since two weeks before surgery, if you are constipated try a Fleet supository.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
