So I have been going to the gym every day and not losing a single pound. When I don't go to the gym, I lose. Should I not go every day? Could I just be building muscle and not fat? I had a 'stall' at week 3, 6 and now 11. It's getting really frustrating.

Have you talked to a personal trainer about setting up a good workout? It is my understanding that you need rest days between strength training days.

I swim and mix up my workout. I also don't swim every day.

Also, keep in mind that you won't see a change on the scale every day. You may be setting yourself up with unrealistic expectations. Weighing less frequently may be a great strategy for you.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight, you will experience stalls.

How long have you been going to the gym every day, and what kind of workout are you doing?

I definitely increase my Protein and Fluid. I do the elliptical for about 1-2 miles. Then every other time I go I do arms and legs the. The days I don't, I stay on elliptical longer.

If you are wanting weight loss, distance on a machine is irrelevant as is resistance. The only thing you need to focus on is your heart rate. Your heart rate should be 130-ish or thereabouts do truly be in cardio mode. Weight lifting can of course increase your heart rate, but not to the levels you are wanting. That being said, more muscle mass means more calories will be used for fuel.

My recommendation is not to focus on the "destination" of 1 or two miles, but stay on that elliptical for 45 minutes with the sweat pouring off you and your breathing is accelerated.

and realize that breaking down and building up muscle usually makes you keep a little extra Water. hang in there, you'll get there - but even with working out there will be stalls - and maybe some long ones. it will be ok!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
