3 weeks out and still have a lump under one of my incisions

Recommended Posts

Is this normal? I feel pretty good all the time and doing what I am told to be doing but i have this sharp shooting pain in my abdominal area when I get up from sitting or turn the wrong way or bend over. Under my incision it feels like there is a lump there. I'm wondering if I should call my surgeon or not.

Yes!!! Completely normal! Takes a couple of months for it to thin out. And you're feeling nerve regeneration ( the stabbing sharp pain )

But

Never hurts to call!!!

I had a lump or 2, one was reasonably noticeable.

Can't remember how long they took to disappear, but they did adventurually.

I also had to brace my abdomen whenever I needed to cough or sneeze. Any sudden movements would be painful for me, early post op.

You just had a major surgery, so it will take time to heal.

However, as Lisa said, if you have any concerns, call your surgeon.

Good luck.

I'm 2 weeks post op today. I have some pain on my left side, not stabbing pain but it's a throbbing pain. Hyocyamine helps because it's a muscle relaxant. I had stopped it after the 3rd day but when I started taking it again, the pain subsided. I called and asked them about it, and they said the pain is normal especially if bending down, twisting... etc. and just keep track of my temperature because any sign of a fever, it may mean something serious.

One of my incisions has a big lump under it too. Thanks for posting this because I wasn't sure if that was normal and it saved me a call to the office. I call way too much as it is. haha.
