3 Months today...........

Recommended Posts

I must say this journey has not been nearly as bad as I had anticipated. Other than a bit of discomfort the few days following surgery I cannot really complain at all. I know it has only been 3 months but I am not having a problem eating what I am supposed to and staying away from junk. My menu is pretty basic consisting of hard boiled eggs, chicken, greek yogurt, cottage cheese and some nuts and fruit and vegetables here and there. Had my 3 month blood work done and everything looks good so i assume I am taking enough Vitamins (with Flintstone as my multi). For all of those that are just embarking on your journey don't sweat it listen to your doctor and stick to the plan like most things in life I truly think it is mind over matter. Now for the good stuff. I am 6' 5" started this journey at 346.5 day of surgery after 1 week liquid diet 330 this morning scale says 276. Seventy pounds gone in 13 weeks, I think a few days of discomfort was well worth it!!! About 40 more to goal which I am confident I can work off by years end!!

Congratulations on your weight loss!!!

I will be one month post op this Sunday and I also had very little discomfort after surgery. I followed the Drs plan exactly as I was and had no issues. I now have been on soft foods for 5 days and doing ok. I do know when I eat to fast or had that one bite to much. My stomach lets me know. My start weight was 263. Surgery Day I was 249 today 229. My goal right now is to get under 200 pounds and then I will set up another goal. I just am taking it slow because I have not seen under 200 pounds in over 10 yrs.

I wish you all the best in your journey congrats again on the weight loss!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
