How to deal with extra skin before plastics?

Recommended Posts

I haven't even had my wls yet, but I do have loose skin from my last pregnancy. The skin folds over a little on my lower abdomen and it's hard to live with. It itches like crazy, is always sweaty, and nothing I do seems to help. I assume it will only get worse after wls. Is there anything I can do (some kind of special undergarments??) to help until it's time for me to get it removed?

Shapers, etc, can definitely help. Your dr can prescribe cream and powder (nystatin) that can help immensely, too. It's important to document your issues with your dr so that insurance might cover some of your plastics.

I hear ya. I had 4 huge babies, I have a feeling even if I wasn't obese my stomach would not be perfect.

I wear light support undies all the time (well, during the day, at night I wear cotton granny panties, ha) The ones I like are from Vanity Fair, I think, I get them at Walmart.< /p>

For fancy occasions I have worn Spanx but I don't feel the need to be that controlled daily, just under my shorts and tee shirts.

Go to Youtube and search skin after weight loss. People call them "skin flicks". Where you have saggy skin depends on where you carry your weight. Other things like how much you have to lose and age affect how bad your saggy skin is.

I doubt I would ever get plastic surgery. Even people with BAD saggy skin look good in their clothes with the right undergarments. I am almost 54, never going to wear a bikini again or short shorts. And my husband never complains about anything so he won't care.

I have heard of insurance paying for plastics when the skin flap is causing rashes, pain, etc. But if it is just for cosmetic reasons they don't usually pay.

I like compression stuff. eastbay.com usually is cheaper than Spanx

I like products similar to Spanx. they do not need to be super snug in order to get things moved around enough to avoid problems, so if comfort is more important to you don't worry about that. size up one size. target has a brand that is made by the same company. I also use coconut oil on the fold area - keeps it so that it doesn't get irritated if it rubs skin on skin and I believe helps prevent infections. I use it as a body lotion all over, actually - so it actually helps the same issues under the boobs.

I'm BMI 45 and 5ft 10 yeah big i'm, tired of hearing from in-laws "she's so pretty in the face but.." I'm not deaf I heard you clearly so don't pretend I'm not here. I don't mention the hair growing out of your ears or that your wife is ugly in face and manner and has a screechy voice. So why pick o.n my size. ? Sorry sometimes I get her up about life.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
