Aliel84 16 Posted September 12, 2016 I'm very nearly 4 months post op. I have good days and bad days. My bad days are mainly when I have foamies (slime) and either feel like I'm going to throw up for an hour after I eat and get better after tons of belching or actually throw up. I figured this happens to me when I eat too quickly or maybe just a tad too much. As much as I try I can't seem to slow down when eating (bad eating habits from my obese past). Anybody have any tips on how to slow down? I've tried putting my fork down between mouthfuls unsuccwsafully and have recently downloaded an app. Sent from my SM-G928C using the BariatricPal App

Bufflehead 6,358 Posted September 12, 2016 I found the app (Eat Slower) very helpful. The other thing is to weigh your portion beforehand -- keep it small enough that you know it won't make you sick. Don't rely on physical signals to tell you when to stop -- make it impossible to overeat. Good luck!
kittykatlover 50 Posted September 12, 2016 What does the app do? Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted September 13, 2016 @@kittykatlover it's very simple -- you just set an interval, and it chimes or beeps or whatever sound you choose on that interval. I set my interval for 45 seconds. The app chimes, take a bite, then you don't take another bite until it chimes again.

Pescador 1,374 Posted September 13, 2016 Really try to program yourself. Sliming would deter me. Eat small meals, not three meals. Wishing you positive results!!!
Aliel84 16 Posted September 13, 2016 Is 45 seconds between bites enough or should you wait more? Sent from my SM-G928C using the BariatricPal App
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted September 13, 2016 @@Aliel84 it worked fine for me, but it's an individual thing, ymmv.
Ryan TN 348 Posted September 13, 2016 The above ideas are great, I use them, plus I take a bite of food, put the fork down and finish chewing. This is really great when eating out with family and friends, gives you more time to talk and slows you down.
