Hi all! I am 9 weeks out from sleeve surgery, and I'm feeling physical hunger (not head hunger). Does this make sense?

make it a great day

I am eight weeks out and I also have hunger. I think this would only be normal as were not eating very much.

I'm hungry all the time. I can fill my stomach, but it doesn't last long. my stomach growls and I feel it. I'm eating on a routine as much as possible, this helps. Meal, snack, meal, snack, meal....about 2hrs apart. Maybe that will help?

I had to eat about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Making sure to log my food. I wish I could drink more Water I think this would help. I get my Protein in every day.

I have almost no hunger, but sometimes I get an 'empty-stomach' feeling. I've found that I can drink Water and quell that feeling. It's a kind of grumbly, weird feeling but my brain isn't identifying it as hunger.

I get very hungry unless I continually graze on Protein foods--cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese strings, etc.

It's best if you don't graze - that's a bad habit to get into. Try waiting 3 hours and drink in between.

Nah. I think starving myself is a bad habit to get into! :)

I wouldn't get all of my Protein in otherwise, either.

What is your Protein intake? Are you eating enough Proteins?

At that time, post op I was hungry too, and had to eat regularly every 3 hrs, if I went over 3-4 hrs, I was practically starving.

So I had to have Breakfast, then later a snack (protein), then lunch, then snack (protein), then dinner and another snack for supper.

Later on my hunger went away, alas at 6 months, it is coming back, so I need very regular meals again.

I was and still am measuring my portions, and tracking my Proteins on MFP.

And of course maintaining fluids.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
