My scales go up and down all the time. I stall, I gain, I lose etc. Day 10 is super early, so don't even bother with weighing. You will be fine!

The best gauge for losing is the fit of your clothes. It they feel and look looser.....you're losing.

I can tell immediately if I have gained or lost by how my clothes fit. They are also my motivation. And when they fit correctly or become loose....my biggest satisfaction. ;)

Plus the added bonus......when they get loose....you get to go buy new clothes. :D

Pay no attention to the scale.

I had my surgery on 8/24/16. It was a very easy process for me. No pain, no issues and do glad I did it. I was a one half self pay (Had hernia thank goodness haha). My doctor, Brad Marker Dothan AL is the best. He told me not to weigh for the first 2 to 3 weeks and I haven't. He said my body was still get adjusted and it might disappoint me. Don't get my wrong I have had the urge to weigh but decided to listen to him. I think I will weigh at the end of the week. I know I have lost cause my clothes are baggy. I have worn things I have not worn in 2 years (pants) so that's exciting. I did weigh at his office a week out from surgery and had lost 5 pounds.

I have not really wanted much to eat. Only been hungry one time. Yay!!

Protein shakes are my go to.

Do not get discouraged. Just do what the doctor says. They know.

I don't even own a scale because I would be too obsessed with it. I know I am loosing because I went from 2xl tops to large and 2xl pants to xl pants. My over the shoulder boulder holders don't fit either.

I gained 5 lbs the week before my period. Then I took some Constipation relief pills two days before my period was due and I spent the entire afternoon running for the washroom and urinating. Next day, I was 5 pounds less.

4 days after the period, three pounds more came off.

Sorry if it's too much information..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
