I'm having a hard time getting my Protein in simply because I'm never that hungry and when I am I'm never around any high Protein foods. I was told my my surgeon I'm cleared to eat what I want as long as it's low in carbs and fat also no junk which duh I knew that so my main thing here is I have such a big issue drinking protein because I find so disgusting and was wondering what a good balanced Protein Bar is ? Something with more protein than calories

My NUT recommends Nature Valley Protein bars. If you look at the macros, the calories and carbs are much lower than most of the more commercial bars. . . . and they cost a lot less. Even less expensive, I buy the store brand that has the same nutrient stats. However, my NUT says only one a day. I always have one in my purse in case I'm out and about without a chance for real food.

Quest. hands down, the very best. I get mine from GNC, although I see Wal-mart carries them now but they cost more there!

They are a little more costly than most store brands but totally worth it (if you get a good GNC sale they're about 1.85 each).

My fave- Cookies and Cream. I keep them in the fridge and they are super chewy and awesome.

21g Protein, 3 net carbs. tons of Fiber. AWESOME. most vets here will recommend them.

Quest, Pure Protein, Oh Yeah One (if you get the latter, make sure it's the "One" series, that stands for one gram of sugar. The regular Oh Yeah bars have a lot more sugar

I use Quest bars mostly when I am up and about. It is hard to drag along a blender to mix up my Protein shakes. They have a number of different and interesting flavors, such as Cookies and cream. So if you use this product, I would suggest that you buy several different types and try them in order to select the one you most like. Then order them by the box over the internet (Amazon) to get the best price. Using Cookies and cream as an example, it has 21 grams of Protein, less than 1 gram of sugar, and 9 grams of fat. It also has quite a bit of dietary Fiber 14 grams. This is important to me because I suffered from bouts of Constipation.< /p>

I like the Premier Protein bars. Either the regular or the fiber crispy ones. The regular ones are very dense, but pack in 30g of Protein. The fiber crispy ones are much lighter (and I found easier to digest). 15g of protein and about the same as the 30g variety in terms of fat (6g) and sugar (8g). I've also bought some through the Bariatric Pal Store that have been satisfying.

I agree with Quest. Just finding the flavors I liked took some testing. Also GNC has sales a couple times a year that brings cost down a little.

I do not eat them regularly, but as take along when traveling, or bike riding just in case I need to,

Ditto the above, Quest bars are my go to Protein in a pinch. I like double chocolate chunk. The cheapest place I've found them routinely is Hyvee stores in their health food section.

Quest bars are a must have in your pantry cabinet. they are a great source of Protein when on the run or on the go.. Also I highly recommend OH YEAH One bars. The texture is smooth and chewy plus it comes in many good flavors such a birthday cake and cinnamon roll. 21 grams of Protein and only 1 gram of sugar. Net carbs is between 4-5 grams depending on the flavor of the bar..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
