fsulady 36 Posted September 11, 2016 I am trying to find ways to get my Protein in, but the thought of any more shakes makes me gag! I can't eat enough meat, etc in a day to meet my goals. Has anyone tried Protein Bars at 2 months?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
suzzzzz 1,005 Posted September 11, 2016 They came on my plan at 5 weeks along with solid food. Just be sure they are really high Protein, low sugar/carbs. There are many out there that are not good for you. I like Atkins brand.
KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 11, 2016 You just need to be careful with certain Protein Bars - many have added sugars. How about cheese, greek yogurt, adding Protein Powder to liquids or food, etc.
fsulady 36 Posted September 11, 2016 I do cheese and yogurt without a problem....but they are still so low in Protein. I need something more concentrated Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
dede_mont 105 Posted September 11, 2016 I eat part of a Protein bar on the go. I buy the think thin ones. The are good and not hard on my stomach. Sent from my LG-H343 using the BariatricPal App
WalkByFaith94 23 Posted September 11, 2016 I've been doing Protein bars since I was maybe one and a half months out? I like the Quest and Atkins bars.
fsulady 36 Posted September 11, 2016 I was worried because I really hadn't eaten anything "crunchy" so I wasn't sure if I would have a hard time tolerating it...I don't know why but I am nervous about experimenting with new foods Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Shop around. The chocolate Peanut Butter by Atkins is soft and delish. And, dont be afraid to experiment with new foods. You gotta enjoy your new life. I am 2.5 mths out and haven't had a problem with any food and I hope it stays that way!
fsulady 36 Posted September 11, 2016 Thanks for the motivation I will start experimenting more... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
atlmag 77 Posted September 11, 2016 I was similar where I got tied of the Protein shakes right around 3 months. I use the pure Protein 1.76 oz bars as a meal usually Breakfast. I buy the 18-count variety pack at Sam's club but you also find them @ Walmart. Never had a problem with them, just took small bites and chewed well. ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted September 12, 2016 I agree with Suzzzzzz, the Atkins bars (I like the salted caramel) are soft and the macros are good. I also like Quest bars, but I think they're a little heavier. I've been able to have Protein bars since 4 weeks out and haven't had issues with them or anything other than eggs. I like the Quest Nutrition bars myself.
