8 days out and I think I can consume to much.

Recommended Posts

I am worried. I can drink Protein shakes no problem, Water no problem - soft foods no problem. Can someone please tell me this is okay 8 days out! What is this isn't going to work on me?

I'm like this too. I called and asked one of the nurses, and she told me "That's exactly the way it should be." Many have problems and here I feel like I didn't even have surgery! She was actually ecstatic about my well being at this stage. I called after a few days, I'm on day 10 now.

Try eating 2 scrambled eggs and you'll know it's working. I was feeling the same as you yesterday, worrying it was not working because I wasn't having issues like everyone else. Scrambled 2 eggs and got about 1/3 the way through and couldn't take another bite. Feel sluggish and full but taught myself a lesson! It's working :)

Yike! lolol I was tempted to try this but decided against it. Even though you didn't feel good after :(, thank you for sharing this. It helps even more than what the nurse told me. hehe

Soup is mostly liquid. Be careful of the rice though - I'm not allowed that on my plan because it expands in your stomach. It can also get caught in suture line early out. Too many carbs too (not that there was very much in what you are).

liquids do not go right through you, especially with a sleeve.

Some of us are fortunate that we don't have an issue getting our requirements met early on. Some do. A lot has to do with swelling, how slow or fast you are consuming your liquids and foods.

That said, I agree with @@NewAdventure2016

When you begin adding more solids - or even mushies- to your stomach, you will feel full faster.

Your stomach is doing what it was engineered surgically to do.

Before I went on puréed foods I could take a ton of liquid. I was worried that the surgery didn't work for me. But then I started puréed foods and they fill me up much faster and stay with me much longer. So don't worry it will happen.

Everyone's experiences are similar, but no two are ever exactly alike. At this early out your body is going through the equivalent of major trauma. Give yourself and your body the time it needs to figure this out and heal properly.

For what it's worth I never had a problem with liquids. I was able to gulp Water from day 1 and it worried me too. In the end my body figured it out and the weight came off.

Good luck and hang in there!

I didn't feel the restriction of my sleeve until I moved to solids. For the first week, every sip of Fluid was a bit uncomfortable, but after that it was easy to drink a whole Protein Drink.

When I started solids, I could only eat about 2T at a time. I knew EXACTLY when I'd had enough...it's unmistakeable.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
