Amandadoesntwant 24 Posted September 11, 2016 I know that for a while my food will be restricted and I've accepted that. However, sushi is my utmost favorite food that I've ever eaten. With that being said, I know rice is a touchy food for a lot of people but is there anyone that has tried to test the waters Once they were a while out like 6mo or a year later? If I have to say goodbye then so be it, but if I know there will be a day that I can eat it once again, I'd be so happy! ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted September 11, 2016 I had my surgery in June and I've had sushi, but I only ate half of a slice of a roll with brown rice and the rest was sashimi. You shouldn't have to completely remove ANYTHING from your diet forever but you'll probably want to limit rice. So yes, you should be able to have sushi, in limited amounts

higher 966 Posted September 11, 2016 I had sashimi and naruto rolls pretty early on post op- by 3-4 weeks it was allowed on my plan. I don't miss the rice and without it, it's a solid high Protein rchoice for our post op diet!
chycky 671 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) I have sashimi often post-op (since moving to soft foods). I do not have rice in my program yet but I don't miss it. If you know the place and like cucumber avocado or asparagus (and can eat veg) you can ask for roll with veg instead of rice Edited September 11, 2016 by chycky
jess9395 5,449 Posted September 11, 2016 Almost three years out and I still can't tolerate rice. But I do sashimi and poke and rolls without rice. Love it!

potahto 26 Posted September 12, 2016 I imagine you should be able to if your body will let you have rice. I'm two weeks post op today and had sashimi the other day and it was okay. I just made sure to pick one that wont be disgusting to chew too long ???? Sent from my SM-N920I using the BariatricPal App
2littlebirds 34 Posted September 12, 2016 i am almost one year out - and i have no problems eating sushi. the quantity i can eat is obviously much smaller - one small roll, max before i am full, but i have no problems tolerating rice. i order sashimi a lot though, just because i feel like it's a healthier choice for me since i'm still in the losing stage. however, every once in a while i want my favorite roll

aug33k 16 Posted September 13, 2016 5 months out, had a spicy tuna roll this past weekend. Split it into two meals. Had no problem with the rice. Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted September 13, 2016 Over three years out and rice makes me yarf. I ask for it rolled in cucumber or avocado most often. I love sashimi and kani salad as well. My favorite restaurant knows to put it in a handroll without rice without me even asking at this point.
Vinasu 621 Posted September 14, 2016 My nutritionist loves sashimi...and so do I. The only thing I can't do is squid or octopus. They always sit in my stomach like a rock until they decide to come back up again... Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
