Which blender should I get?

Recommended Posts

@@laceemouse ice is a yes, and you definitely need something more than an immersion blender for that. Many plans will not allow fruit, especially in a smoothie, which is basically like injecting liquid sugar into your system.

I got a bullet and returned it because it was hard to clean. (Not THAT kind, the blender kind. I love my THAT kind.)

Bought a Ninja thinking it would do more. Returned it because I didn't use it for anything my blender couldn't do.

Bought a food' processor. Returned it. Too many pieces.

I used my regular old blender a few times, and my immersion blender much more often because it was easier to clean.

I needed a blender for all of three weeks and I didn't need another appliance on my counter.

Don't over buy. You won't need half the crap you think you do.

I bought the ninja so that it can do double duty of Soups and smoothies. That thing destroys, I put yogurt, Protein powder, ice, strawberries, spinach, and flax seeds and in about 5 seconds everything is liquified.

Yep. Agreed.

I already had a Ninja- and used it a bit in the beginning for Bariatric purposes, but now it's just for regular use when I'm cooking

A good old shaker/blender bottle with the mixer thing that looks like a jack is perfect for shakes- doesn't make too much air, easy to clean and take on the go. Mine has a bottom part that unscrews and holds the Protein powder dry until I need it. Easy Peezy.

Foamy Protein shakes suck lol

I use a Blender Bottle for my post morning workouts, it is quick and I make shakes up the night before.

But I also have a regular blender for more complex mixes of veggies and cooking.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
