Don't know why after losing 91lbs I am looking at myself daily and making such a big deal of minor imperfections. My brain is having a really difficult time catching up with the rapid weight loss. When I was close to 300lbs I thought I was passing for 220! Now that I am 198 I feel like I am still stuck in an ill fitting size 20 when I can easily wear a juniors size 13... I think a lot has to do with the loose skin on my lower belly which makes everything fit weird! Who else has gone through this and what did you do to help your mind catch up!?

Thanks!

After all the years of having lower self esteem for allowing myself to gain as much weight as I did, I still find that I don't feel 100% comfortable having my picture taken or looking in a mirror. Granted I do both, but in the back of my mind, I still know how I did look (I know I won't see Brad Pitt looking back at me in the mirror, unless we are both looking in the mirror at the same time -I guess I'll give that a try the next time he and Angelina stop by my house :)).

Just use positive affirmations. You have worked very hard at losing your excess weight; over 90 pounds and counting is something to be very proud about.

I'm down 81 lbs and I still consider myself fat (I'm currently 153.6) even though I'm not. A couple of times I've found while in a store I walked by a mirror and had to go back because I was shocked to see how small I was.

I think we are our own biggest critic, just try to enjoy the differences you see, like for me it's using a normal sized bath towel after my shower instead of a beach towel, or not needing a seat belt extender on an airplane, or my thighs not bulging out the sides of a chair when I sit...focus on those milestones/accomplishments and eventually your brain will catch up!

:) you've done an amazing job, keep up the good work!

I had the opposite happen after my rapid weight gain. I would pass my reflection and not recognize myself as the heavy, bloated-faced person staring back. I cried. A lot.

I haven't had a full body picture of me taken in in 8 years. I am 143lbs and still horrified by the idea of it. People say I am shrinking but I feel like I have to hide behind others when it comes to having pictures taken of me.

We self discriminate so much!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
