Chanda, where u working out at???

I have to say that working out has been where most of my motivation comes from. When I am not in any kind of exercise regime, I just go crazy. I eat anything, feel guilty and eat some more. When I am working out and sticking to a routine, I seem to do better with food. I go to ballys for couple of hours every other day now, and i hit the treadmill at home on the off days. After all that I feel super guilty after I burned all them calories so I make better food choices.

I do come and look at the boards, especially the before and after photos... they are so inspiring!! I think that is why I started back working out two weeks ago. When I see people who were banded around the same time as me and they look awesome, I am so jealous.

I know we can do it. We just need to step up our game. Your fill will hopefully jumpstart you....

I am in the process of getting my paperwork together to enable me to have the surgery done. My surgeon will probably be Dr. Cynthia Long. She has an office in Olney, MD. Has anyone heard of her?

Sorry, never heard of her. But I also never been to Olney either, lol. My doc was Dr. Moazzez, at INOVA fair oaks in Va. He was great!

Hi Steve...Dr. Brody is my Angel...I very highly recommend him. He is very gentle, kind, smart and has a wonderful bedside manner. I feel completely comfortable with him and his entire staff. My experience at GW Hospital is nothing short of extraordinary. Everyone was very nice and made my stay very comfortable. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions or if you want any more information. Good luck to you...

Thanks again Tina for the pm. I am schedueled to see Dr. Brody on 11/16 for initial consult. I dont have all my ducks in a row yet but they are hatching...I feel like I'm lined up to see every Dr. possible to me. Jeez...maybe I need Dr Phil . . ."And howw would that make yoooo feeel inside?" (Dr. Phil is an icon)

I also had a chance to talk to one of my sisters friends who is banded. She has done very well and gave me her point of view. I mostly want to know that people feel full. That is a big problem for me now. Im hoping it is true that the band causes an increase in saiety when the pouch is full. I think that will work for me. I like to be active and when I apply myself to diet I make healthy choices. My problem is I was born to be a barbarian warlord but instead I have a desk and the only think I've conquered is a hungry man tv dinner and the progress notes on most of my files. -Steve

Hey Steve, and all my fellow Marylanders!

I, too, was worried that I'd feel like I'm starving all the time. It was one of the things I worried about pre-band. But, I have had my band for about a year and a half and never felt like I was starving. I still get hungry like normal so I eat and stay satisfied for a lot longer than I would have without a band.

Part of trick is "what" you eat...if I have a high-carb meal then I feel hungry faster but if it's a high-Protein meal it keeps me satisfied much longer.

I hope that info helped.

Hello Gang,

It's Another Lapbander In Progress (lbip)!

Sorry I Have Been Mia For A Minute, But I Have Been Working My Butt Off Trying To Get Some Results To Report!

Unfortunately, I Have Not Significant At This Point.

I Am Going To Dr. Brody On Tuesday For My 3rd Fill And I Have Only Lost 7 Pounds Since My Last Fill On October 23rd. Exactly 1 Pound A Week! (bummer)

Overall, I Have Only Lost What Seems Like The Same 25 Pounds Since Surgery In July. I Really Was Praying To Be Under 250 At Least By Now.

But Of Course As They Say It The Weight Lose Gets Better With Each Fill. I Am Up To 9cc's Now So Hopefully This 3rd One Will Be A Dream.

Good News Is That I Definitely Know Now What It Is To Have Restriction. I Have Had About 3 Episodes Of Sliming And Pb'ing Since The 2nd Fill. But I Have Corrected Those Issues Of Eating To Fast And Drinking To Soon After Eating. So I Am Good With That.

In Addition, I Have Not Given Up On My Workouts. I Am Amped It Up To 5 Days Of Cardio And 4 Days Of Weight Lifting. Since My scale Has Seemed Have Gotten Stuck On Stupid, I Decided To Add Some Circuit Training For A Boost. (btw - Kee I Work Out Everyday At lunch In The Gym At My Office - Sorry For Just Responding, I Just Realized You Addressed Me In An Earlier Email).

Yall Take Care And Have Fun At The lunch. I Wish I Could Come But I Will Have My 3 Year Old And You Know How Boyz Are When Mommy Wants To Really Do Something For Herself.

Everyone Please Post And Update Or Something. I Would Love To Hear From You All.

Someone Please Tell Me The Is Light At The End Of This Tunnel And That This Scars & Keloids On My Belly From The Lapband Are Not In Vain.

Take Care And See You Soon,

Chanda

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
