marionb88 12 Posted September 10, 2016 So I am so nervous. After starting this process in April I am finally at this point. I have BCBS Illinois. It's through my husbands employer and they do cover Bariatric-Surgery. The doctor office submitted to insurance on Thursday afternoon. I am wondering how soon they usually approve or deny these things Sent from my SM-N920R6 using the BariatricPal App
The Candidate 3,215 Posted September 10, 2016 Try your best to distract yourself as much as possible. Go out and have sone fun. You've done all you can and it's in someone else's hands now. I'm sure it'll be the good news you're waiting for when it does come, despite the agony of waiting. And let me tell you - you are gonna love your new life! Best wishes! I am wondering how soon they usually approve or deny these things Sent from my SM-N920R6 using the BariatricPal App My stuff was submitted to BCBS Texas on Friday. I have been told it will be 1 to 2 weeks before they even look at it. My doctor's office basically said don't bug us again because they can't do anything else until they get approval from insurance. I think I will wait about a week and then contact BCBS and see where they are. After approval I have no idea how long it will be until surgery is scheduled. I understand the office staff doesn't want people bugging them all the time but I wish they would give a guesstimated timeline. So I guess we are in the same boat, waiting, waiting, waiting........ marionb88 12 Posted September 10, 2016 Yeah. My docs office got a little annoyed with me too. But I wanted to know when it was gonna be submitted. Usually bcbs is pretty good about doing it quickly. But I guess I will just call next week sometime. I don't even know how long after approval surgery is scheduled. I was hoping to know soon to be able to tell my boss but i guess I just have to wait and see. Waiting seems to be the hardest part Sent from my SM-N920R6 using the BariatricPal App

I am trying to enjoy things but I am just so fearful of being denied. I can't wait to begin a new life and be able to do the things that I haven't cuz of my weight. asamii 4 Posted September 10, 2016 I have bcbs of Illinois also. I called them to verify they received everything. I then called a week later to see if they approved. I was told that it might take a few days after approval for my doctor to be notified. It was better for me to contact the insurance. Good luck. LDE83 1 Posted September 12, 2016 I am in the same boat. I had my final medical clearance on Wednesday. So now just waiting, I'm going to give them a week and call the insurance company to see where they are in the process. I am worried about being denied as well, I went through so much for the last six months, I don't want anything to stand in my way now. Good luck with everything! marionb88 12 Posted September 12, 2016 So I called the insurance today and they did say that they received the paperwork and that they didn't have a decision yet. I'm wondering how long I should wait to call again to check about a decision Sent from my SM-N920R6 using the BariatricPal App
