PreOp eating everything in sight?

Recommended Posts

I don't have a surgery date yet, but I find myself dealing with this mentality that I will never be able to eat carbs and fats and Desserts again so I better eat it all now. Sound familiar to anyone or is it just me?

Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.

Love this!

I had a lot of people advise me NOT to have any food funerals. I did have 3 or 4 of my favorite meals spaced out over a few weeks prior to my 10 day pre op diet. The one thing I didn't eat, which was on my funeral list was popcorn. My husband makes the BEST popcorn and I didn't have any. Damn...I miss popcorn.

I think it's perfectly normal to want to say goodbye to a few things you know you won't see ever again (or at least for a very long time) I would think your okay, as long as you don't start shoveling it down for the sake of just eating it. Take time to enjoy it with friends and family. I personally Am going to have A couples night out and go to Benihana (loveeeee that rice) before liquid diet starts. I still have a long way to go I only just started the process so I'm three months away from anything. But a cookie here and there a taco, a piece of cake... I think you're OK if you have it now. I don't see anything wrong with it.

During the last week leading up to my pre-op diet I had a few of my favorite things and then went pretty crazy the day before (full Breakfast, big fruit plate, pizza, salad and garlic bread for dinner). I was so sick from overeating on day 1 of the pre-op that it actually kind of helped! The thing I'd recommend is allowing a few things but not on the same day, and not for a long period of time - write down 4/5 meals/foods you really love and have reasonable portions. Stick to your Protein and hydration goals the rest of the time. Oh, and by eating a bit more during that week I was able to get some good exercise in, too.

I'm confused. I thought it was important that you stick to the Pre-op 8 day detox prior to surgery to insure your liver was clean. Are we all speaking of the same Surgery? I'm a week out from having the Doenal Switch (9/19).

My doctor hasn't advised me to do any pre op detox or liquid diet. Just nothing after midnight the day before. Maybe you should call and find out

Now I'm on the pre-op diet (mine is 10 days) and haven't cheated (and won't cheat) - I was referring to the week prior to my pre-op diet starting.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
