OK so I am 2 weeks post op and into my broths, Water and shakes. My issue is that when I'm drinking my broth there comes a point where I have to stop because the area that creases when you sit above my belly becomes so painful. Like it gets stuck there and then releases into my stomach. At night when I'm sleeping the same issue happens and I'm not sure if it's just acid reflux or what. If I burp it relieves it, or if I take a pepcid and barely helps. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm 17 days post op and I posted a thread asking this very question. In just the past couple days it has gotten A LOT better.

That's awesome! Did you change or do anything differently?

I haven't done anything different. I think it's just the further from the surgery the more things are healing. I'm finding every couple of days things have progressed/changed drastically from the days prior.

Omeprazole is usually prescribed for the acid problems. We all have little issues like this. Walking a bit might help. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
