Preop Nerves!

Recommended Posts

My preop appointment is Tuesday 9/13. This is when I will be given my surgery date. I have been excited since this has been such a long journey. Now I am started to get nervous. I am worried that something else is going to get in my way and delay me again. I am keeping my fingers crossed that there are no more issues.

If something does come up just jump through one hoop at a time. Have to get all the stars aligned before they roll you into the OR. It really is exciting. I'm just a week post op, have had some pain but nothing that couldn't be managed. Just have to keep your eye on the ball, it's all worth it!

You'll do fine. I remember almost quoting. I now weigh 121 pounds and ALL my health issues are gone. Think of ho healthy you're going to be. All the little things now that you can't do that you'll be able to do. Even small ones. Like in a restaurant being able to set at a booth, not a table.

I am at the surgeon's office right now waiting for my surgery date. They told me that I may have messed up my surgery because I had put on 20 lbs over the past 17 months due to the fact that I gave up a long time ago. I thought this surgery was not gonna happen. Now I am scared that it really may not happen.

Not gaining is often an insurance requirement, I hope things work out for you. Maybe you could start the 6-month process over again?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
