Bananas are NOT a low carb food

Recommended Posts

Banana-Oreo comparison aside that list you posted @@OutsideMatchInside of fruits and net carbs is mega helpful. I'm trying to work fruit back into my daily diet to uhhhhh keep things smelling sweet down there!!! So thank you!

I eat fruit in moderation because of the natural sugar in fruit. I do enjoy 1/2 of a banana occasionally. It is a whole food with nutritional value.

I am just waiting for someone to post that they make banana smoothies and drink it through a straw .

Then the fireworks will begin. :)

I am still trying to wrap my mind around how a full size banana is only 4 tbs.

It's not, that's how. It's called "I know I shouldn't have eaten a whole banana and I was called out for it so I made up an amount to justify it."

;)

a full banana is not going to be 4 tbs. there are good people who get confused about measurements. however, a 1/4 of a cup of mashed banana was on my soft foods plan. they are not the devil, or equal to oreo Cookies.

But that being said, Oreo's are a processed food. Bananas are not. So given the choice, for health purposes I'd choose a banana over an Oreo any day and not feel a damn bit of guilt about it. Eating clean, non processed foods will always be the better choice.

I would still prefer an Oreo.

I have very upsetting news for you. Bananas ARE the devil!

But if they are, then why is "Angel Food" cake more fattening (ounce for ounce)? :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
