Low carb not working

Recommended Posts

I am using a yogurt dressing on the salad. Bolthouse. Only 2 tablespoons. Will quit the chili. Have to think of something else for lunch though. Thank you.

But, I am curious about people losing weight after surgery. Don't they eat only around 800 cal a day and drop a ton of weight?

I only had 800 calories or so for the first 6 weeks. That was because I just couldn't intake more. I have a normal functional metabolism. I upped my calories every few weeks. I eat 1300-1900 calories a day now depending on my mood and activity level, and I am still losing.

People that keep their calories low for long periods train their bodies to function on those low calories and they are stuck eat that amount of calories for life. Then when they regain they have nothing to cut because they have ruined their metabolism. Once a body adjusts to a low amount of calories, eventually it will stop losing and start hanging onto every calorie/pound.

You should eat about 200 calories below your resting metabolic rate to lose weight.

There are lots of studies and scientific information that support this, so do your own research.

Actually 5 lbs a month is not bad pre-op. Losing weight pre surgery is hard or we never proceed actually getting surgery. I think your on the right track. Start tracking and see how much carbs you are consuming. Your efforts will start paying off even the scale doesn't move much. You are learning new healthy habits and breaking that carb addiction!

There is a TON of sodium on soy/teriyake sauce, and I believe the carb content is a little high, too. Your stir fry may be doing you in.

I'm doing the pre-op diet/low carb diet now, and I throw in 20 ounces of Water in between every snack/shake. It REALLY helps tamp down the hunger. The diet isn't as horrible as I thought it would be, on day 6 and down almost 10 lbs.

And if you are bound up, I have one black coffee in the morning with my vanilla Protein shake as Creamer. I've slowed down from my usual daily, ahem, bathroom break, but definitely not constipated.

If you're doing low carb, and I mean 25 net carbs a day or less, then you need to burn "healthy fats" to lose fat. I've been following Ketosis since my surgery over 4 years ago and if u follow it correctly and drink tons of Water in between, it works wonderfully. Keep your macros at 75-80% healthy fats, 15% carbs and 5% carbs (net carbs)

Carbs are sneaky. "Carb Creep" will get you every time. I suspect they are higher than you realize. Re-count.

When (hint to self) I get on a low carb diet I have to be no more more than 25-40 grams a DAY to lose anything.

Also, look at total carbs, not the carb minus Fiber or sugar alcohol-but total carbs.

sugar free is not carb free. Additionally, since the carbs are at night they are not getting burned off. (So for example, 3 Popsicle pops at 4 grams each is 12 grams at the very end of the day).

The Premier shake has 5 total-so then there is 10 grams there.

Plus, now you have dressing (check the carb count and the amount you are using).

Then everything else.

Try pickle pops to curb sugar urges and add more Water?

More Water might help.

Oh, I didn't even see the Chili. yeah, that is an even bigger culprit than the late night Popsicle and the Protein. shakes.

Tomato sauce is FULL of sugar, Beans pretty high.

Try broth and low-starch veggie and meat Soup? (Like hamburger meat, beef broth, green Beans, cabbage, etc) Soup.< /p>

The chicken salad sounds pretty low in carbs.

Deviled eggs are filling and low too.

good luck.

I need to get on my wagon before I get on my high horse! LOLOL

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
