I don't know about anyone else, but my sleep cycles are completely messed up. I've tried melatonin, you name it. However, I either can't fall asleep until 2-3 in the morning, or if I do manage to get to la-la land at a decent hour, I'm up wide eyed and ready to go at 2 am. No matter what time I'm up to or wake up at, by 6 am, my day has completely begun and it's off to the races.

Had this issue before- when I was really suffering from the rheumatoid arthritis, but since surgery, I've been symptom-free. Yet sleep still eludes me....

I'm shorting myself on sleep, too.

Up at 3:45am-4:00am on work days, like today.

Up by 4:30am on days off.

I should sleep more. It is something that I was coached to do during the pre-op counseling sessions.....yet I fail at doing so.

I think, perhaps, I just want to squeeze all I can out of each day. In the past, I would nap mid day.

I have no need for that any longer.

But, there is only so much one can do at this hour, without disturbing the masses.

My dogs are the only ones who love my getting up early.

Gives them the opportunity to outside for some pre-dawn scouting around and then they come back in and pile up on the sofa like they are right now.

Lol. My two look at me like "hey, idiot, quit making so much noise"

And we are loaded with skunks around here right now so there's no pre-dawn scouting for them

I guess I am not alone with this issue.

I too am wide awake at 2 to 3 AM every morning, no matter what time I go to sleep.< /p>

I do not need to get up till 5AM so really need the extra time.

I tried Melatonin, with no luck, and now take ZZQuil which gets me more sound sleep till 2 AM, then wide awake.

Nope. Not alone. I read, do some graphic design work, reply to emails. If it weren't for the risk of waking the household, I'd be cooking and cleaning during those hours. Would certainly free up my day to do only things I enjoy.

Is that a golden or labradoodle??? Adorable!

The one in that pic is Benny. Goes by many names, Bennydoodle, Doodlicious, and The Dood. He's getting old- 11 now. He has been the BEST dog I could have ever asked for. Have another dog as well, but he is quite psycho. I call him Sir Shitsalot. Also goes by (official name) Oliver, or YaYa - because he's crazy. He weighs in at 13 lbs compared to the Dood who is 110lbs ( and not fat- just a BIG A** goldendoodle)

@@LisaMergs That picture is of Marlee - she's an Old English Sheepdog - also 11 years old and nearly 100 lbs. I have another dog - a smaller version of the sheepdog - she's a Bearded Collie (14 years old) and HAD tons of hair until last month when I had to have her shaved because she was so matted from the humidity and heat we've been having.

Bennydoodle is great!! So is Sir Shitsalot but I go for bigger dogs myself. :-)

Lol. I prefer the bigger breeds, as well. Oliver belongs to my middle child- only girl I have. Next pup is going to be this---

Called a Bernedoodle. I'm averse-dog hair, so the doodle breed works. And because said daughter has had allergies to dogs, these she can live with.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
