Pregnancy after surgery.

Recommended Posts

I'm scheduled for surgery October 6th. I know I want more kids. I have a 2yrold son right now. I'm think one or two more later like 1.5 - 2 years from now. Some people have said why lose and have surgery just to get pregnant later on. Well I am 330lbs. It's not healthy for me too have a child at this weight plus I don't even think I can my hormones are completely unbalanced.

I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are. My hope is that in 2 years I'll be in the habit of small portions and overeating won't be an issue. I'll have a good exercise routine in place & I'll be prepared.

Getting healthy pre-pregnancy is probably the best thing you can do for your future children. I think you have an excellent plan. Good luck!

It's not as though you have to gain alot during a pregnancy. Most healthy woman gain an appropriate amount and lose fairly quickly after childbirth. No reason to think you'd be any different.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
