I am a little over a month out from surgery and I have been completely exhausted this week. I'm not sure what's going on...nothing much has changed, except for my exercising. I'm still eating healthfully, drinking Water and Protein shakes...I am now on solids, so I thought I would have a little more energy.

Monday, I did 9 miles on the bike at the gym. I felt great, but I haven't been back since. I usually don't have a problem working out. But I just physically can't. Tuesday, I literally slept most of the day (which is sooo unlike me. I'm not a nap taker). Today, I feel very sluggish.

What is going on???

How many calories are you taking in a day on average? I was really tired and weak when I was only getting 5-600 calories since I do exercise daily. I was also light headed and dizzy in the morning and at night. I did gradually up my calories to about 1000 per day and all is well now. Hope this helps.

I'm eating about 800 calories a day. I'm also taking a Multivitamin, B-12, and Citracal.

For example, this is what I had today:

-3/4 cup Raisin Nut Bran (w/2% milk)

-11oz Muscle Milk (protein shake)

-30oz Water (and Crystal Light)

-4T tuna w/FF mayo (1T)

-2 Lowfat Keebler Club Crackers

-5T Chili (w/little cheddar cheese)

-1 100 Calorie Pack (Chips Ahoy)

Are you satisfied and feel full after eating this for the day? Do you feel hungry?

Yes. I'm learning to listen to that 'soft stop'. I've discovered if I don't...even one bite too many, I'm miserable.

To be honest, I feel like I can't get anymore (liquids) in. I know I'm not getting 64oz in a day like I'm s'posed to, but physically, I can't. I'm usually satisfied w/my meals. I try to start drinking 30 mins later, but it sends me into the full, uncomfortable mode.

:hungry: I eat about 1300 to 1400 cal. a day. I think i would be way to hungry on 600-800. I exercise 4 or 5 times a week and feel pretty good. Maybe i am eating to much but i have only had one fill and do not feel any restriction. Donna:ranger:

I'm thinking maybe I need to up my caloric intake b/c I've been working out 4-5 days/week...

Guess it's time for some experimentation.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
