Brisbane September 2016 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Glad to hear you're home, NK. Every day at home gets better. I feel so much better, not sore and I even went to the shops today! I was pooped after but was good to get out. I'm still struggling to get enough fluids in but trying hard. We're both on the right side of it all now

Fluids is definitely my biggest issue right now....i wish I had kept the little 30ml cups they had when I was on the ward....they were perfect to guage how much you needed to have at one time.

Hey NK, feeling like a human again and getting out and about but still struggling getting enough Protein and fluids. I've got my appointment with the dietician tomorrow, so I'm hoping I can progress onto the next stage which will hopefully help me get more Protein etc. how are you going??

Yeah....I probably average 50g of protein a day....but I'm able to get at least 2L of fluids a day...whether it's water/v8 juice/soup/sustagen/etc. I get a small occasional pain when I drink just a little bit too much but had a win with eating some snack pack choc custard last night....today I'm going to try fruit puree and see how I go. My appointment with the doc isnt until Friday week.....hopefully I can start on mushy foods then.

I'm now on 'minced & mashed' foods! I'm so happy! Tonight I had a little bit of chicken and gravy. I couldn't eat much but man, best meal ever! Was worried that my stomach wouldn't cope but it all went down fine. You shouldn't be too far behind me NK?!? I also had little pain spurts from time to time but I think it was my stomach telling me to slow down or it was too cold. It passes though. I haven't had any trouble with it in a couple of days.

Hi. Getting there - it certainly is an interesting experience! Getting nauseous over nothing and going off anything sweet. Roll on puree stage! It is getting easier each day :)

Good to hear MM.

So Ive managed to get down 16kg since being sleeved. Almost onto solid foods....although I am eating them just chewing the hell out of them before swallowing. Exercise is starting to increase. My walk yesterday was 7.74km.....took just over an hour.

How is everyone else doing?

Well done NK! That's awesome!!!! I'm doing great, I'm tolerating all the foods I've eaten so far and I'm back to normal foods at the end of this week (yay)! I'm starting my daily walks today (my dog will be so happy)! I'm down 15kg and couldn't be happier! Are you back at work NK?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
